Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed that Kylian Mbappe has signed a new contract at the club – but La Liga has announced that they have reported the French club to UEFA.

The Frenchman’s PSG contract was set to expire next month and it had been widely expected that he would sign for Real Madrid after a verbal agreement between both parties.

Mbappe will now stay in France for the foreseeable future

He starred against Real Madrid earlier this season – but won’t be signing for them

But the French side has now confirmed that, after an apparent change of heart from the 23-year-old, he will now remain in the French capital.

They posted on their social media channels the phrase, ‘Our history is written here. Ici c’est Paris’, alongside a video of Mbappe standing on the top of the Parc des Princes.

They also posted that he has signed a three-year extension, keeping him at the club until 2025, meaning they can command a lofty fee should the player wish to leave.

Mbappe said: “I would like to announce that I have chosen to extend my contract at Paris Saint-Germain, and of course I am delighted.

“I am convinced that here I can continue to grow at a club that provides everything necessary to perform at the highest level.

“I am also delighted to continue to play in France, the country where I was born, where I have grown up, and where I have made my name.
