Brighton have had to play catch up after a slow start to the season but they are unbeaten in three Premier League games and should be feeling reasonably confident as they prepare to take on Newcastle at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
The Seagulls slipped from 10th to 12th after a 1-1 draw at Wolves last time out, although they were reasonably pleased with the outcome thanks to an 86th-minute equaliser from Jan Paul van Hecke.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side seem to be growing into the campaign, although the same could be said of Newcastle, who head to the south coast in search of a third successive victory.
The Magpies endured a difficult summer due to the Alexander Isak saga, but they are seeing positive signs from big-money new signing Nick Woltemade, who has netted three goals in four Premier League appearances.
Team news
Kaoru Mitoma (foot) and Joel Veltman (calf) should be back in contention for Brighton, but Jack Hinshelwood (ankle) is set to be sidelined until November and Adam Webster and Solly March (both knee) are long-term absentees.
For Newcastle, Lewis Hall (thigh), Tino Livramento and Yoane Wissa (both knee) are out of contention, but Lewis Miley (calf) and Jacob Ramsey (ankle) face late tests and Dan Burn (wrist) is fine after featuring for England in Tuesday’s 5-0 victory over Latvia.
